Conference Commissioner Carousel

  • The Big 12 commissioner Kevin Weiberg has resigned and he is expected to take a position on the upcoming Big Ten TV network which is scheduled to go live in August 2007. The Big Eleven TV network will be operated by FSN/FCS. I do not know what format it will have, whether it will be just like Fox College Sports, or it will have more in-studio presence like ESPNU... If you don't believe me, the story is at Sportsline. Also Dennis Dodd chimes in. Page 2 of Dodd's story provides a list of candidates to replace him at Big 12 commissioner. The Conference Commissioner Carousel is spinning!. Send your resumes now!
  • As you may recall, the Big 10 conference actually has 11 teams. And the Atlantic 10 has 14 teams, although they really should cut back down to 10 because some of the bottom tier teams of the Atlantic 10 are really at the NEC/MEAC level.
  • An interesting debate, is Memphis a mid-major?. Speaking of Memphis, they plan a four year series with Georgetown. The first game will be on December 22, 2007 a Saturday, so it could be on ESPN, CBS or ABC or FSN.
